And it doesn’t matter if this is your first baby or your sixth (I used sixth because I am the sixth child and as a sixth child, we need more recognition)— life is changing. This could be the very start of your family, the final member to join your family or somewhere in-between… it doesn’t matter, they all need to be remembered. I’m not a used-car-salesman— if you’re reading this, you likely have already decided what you want photographed— I’m not looking to sell you on anything. I’m not completely sure of the reason behind writing this, maybe it’s my way of assuring you that whatever you decide to do— you’re justified (but if we’re being real, you don’t need my dumb ass to do that for you).
Leading up to my birth, my parents had five girls. They were the "all-girl-Fanning-family.” I don’t know that family, but for two years, that was them. When I finally came along— they just became the family who doesn’t understand birth control (kidding)— we became the family with five girls and one boy— or, the Fanning-family-of-8. In order to make a new family construct, the other must be retired. This is probably a really good time to mention that I find way too much meaning in absolutely everything and I make mountains out of mole-hills all the time. Buuuut think about it, one day, my family was an all-girl family and the next day, that identity changed.
This is the last time it will ever just be you and your husband. This is the last time it’s just the three of you. This is the last time you are a family dominated by girls. This is the last time you may ever be pregnant. And I don’t think a single one of those is more important than the other.
I just want you to remember this time, no matter which time it may be….

A glam maternity session is all about you and making you feel as glamorous as are, but don’t always feel during this time. You are busy growing human life in your body— let us take the lead and with it, all the stress that can come when planning a photo session.
This session includes styling PLUS hair + make-up. Our glam sessions are primarily focused solely around those doing the most work (AKA you) but we can always throw your lover in a few pictures.

Sweet + simple.
This is our classic newborn session— focused all around your new baby. We keep things simple and natural— no awkward or unsafe poses. Our in-home studio has everything we need— all you have to do is get the baby here. Getting used to the sleep deprivation is brutal during this time, so we want you to just sit back, relax, maybe even fall asleep on our couch (you won’t be the first) and let us handle everything.
We don’t require it, but we have found that newborn sessions are the most successful when the babies are between 5 and 10 days old.
*Our in-home studio is located in North Peoria and we are unable to travel with this session. Please consider this when booking.

I think this is a great opportunity to let you know that I am not a lifestyle photographer and this is not a lifestyle session.
Lifestyle photographers come into your home and photograph you in your everyday— they are a fly on the wall. I am a giant fly and if if I tried to be on your wall— I would take the wall down with me.
My in-home session is a lot like my family session, but it all takes place in your home… because if you’re anything like me, your home is a huge part of your family and one day you want to look back and remember everything during this time, just as it was.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE MY MATERNITY PHOTOS?
Every woman is different, as is each belly. You want to make sure you have enough belly to show off in pictures, but you don’t want to be completely uncomfortable at your session. Typically, we tend to photograph women between 30-32 weeks.
If you are planning to book between the months of October-December, please note that this is our busy season and we have to schedule out further than the rest of the year.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SECURE OUR NEWBORN SESSION?
(I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS BABY IS COMING)
It’s important to know, we only photograph newborns between 5-10 days old and scheduling for that is all about communication. We tentatively schedule a date based off your due date, but move it as necessary. Don’t stress it, just keep us in the loop on how things are progressing.
We only schedule newborn sessions in the morning— as this tends to be when they are happiest.
HOW LONG DOES A NEWBORN SHOOT TYPICALLY LAST?
Good question…. tough answer.
Newborn sessions are completely dependent on the baby. If the baby is fussier— it will take more time to soothe the baby, therefore making the session longer. On average, we usually spend between 1-2 hours with newborns. BUT please do not schedule anything immediately following your session— time constraints stress me out and if you tell me we only have an hour, the shoot will likely fall apart and your baby will not stop screaming and I will not stop crying.
WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME FOR MATERNITY AND NEWBORN SESSIONS?
Approximately two weeks.

I mean… don’t forget your baby, but otherwise, we’ve got you covered on props, swaddles and accessories.
POSING… CAN WE DO A POSE OF MY NEWBORN TAP DANCING WHILE HANGING FROM A CHANDELIER?
No. No we cannot.
It’s scary to me how many photographers out there don’t realize how dangerous some of these poses are for newborn babies. There are poses out there that are proven to cut off oxygen, even if for a short period of time, to your brain. We aren’t messing around with that kinda shit.
We pose babies in a natural subtle and natural way that is comfortable to them, but even more importantly, keeps them safe. If you have grand plans of your baby doing something a little more risky— we aren’t your people.
